About the Firm
Mantese Honigman Rossman and Williamson, P.C. represents a blend of large firm sophistication and skill with small firm energy and responsiveness. Founder Gerard Mantese and former State Senator David Honigman began their legal careers together at one of Michigan’s largest law firms, and learned the practice of law under many of the State’s most notable attorneys. After developing a solid foundation of legal skills, Mr. Mantese began his own firm in 1994, which he has developed into a dynamic force in the legal community, both in Michigan and across the country.
Over the ensuing years, Mr. Mantese has been recognized for legal excellence on numerous occasions. Among other awards, he has been recognized as one of Crain’s “40 under Forty”; named a “Super Lawyer” for years; named one of the country’s “Best Lawyers;” and recognized as one of Michigan’s “Leaders in the Law.” Mr. Mantese has successfully represented clients in numerous multi-million dollar lawsuits, and built a reputation as a fearsome advocate who also maintains the highest levels of honesty and integrity. While building the firm, Mr. Mantese has made sure to surround himself with attorneys and employees who share his values and work ethic.
Meanwhile, Mr. Honigman became one of just a handful of people during the past century to beat an incumbent State Representative in a primary election. As a member of the Michigan House of Representatives, he was the only legislator in memory to be appointed by the opposing political party to chair a Subcommittee. As a member of the Michigan Senate, he was the only legislator chosen to simultaneously chair two standing Committees of the Senate. Mr. Honigman also found time to author more bills that were passed into law than any other legislator, both as a Representative and a Senator.
In addition to partnering with his old colleague Mr. Honigman, Mr. Mantese has created a law firm staffed with some of Metro Detroit’s best and brightest young attorneys, including Mark Rossman, who has been Mr. Mantese’s partner since 2006. In 2007, Mr. Rossman was recognized by Lawyer’s Weekly as an “Up and Coming Lawyer” and has also been named a Super Lawyers “Rising Star.” Mr. Rossman has lived up to his early career accolades and established an expertise in banking law, among other practice areas. With the addition of Ian Williamson as a partner in 2009, the firm has expanded to include four seasoned partners and several highly skilled associates.
